Einride

A Swedish transportation company that has created a semi truck without a cab, driver or engine, and is inspired by an automated guided vehicle in a Volvo Truck powertrain plant.

Phantom Auto

Phantom Auto offers a way for a person to drive an autonomous vehicle from miles away when the autonomous vehicle encounters situations it can't handle on its own. Autonomous vehicles operate just fine today 98% of the time. The other 2% are what the technical community calls edge cases — unforeseen traffic accidents, construction or unexpected behavior of conventional vehicles — that will bring the autonomous vehicle to a stop in the middle of traffic. That's when Phantom Auto takes over with drivers in call centers, sometimes 100 miles away or more. Passengers can see and hear the remote driver, offering added reassurance.

Vulog

Vulog is a car sharing technology company that uses SaaS mobility solutions that powers the most successful shared mobility business in the world. From an app, to fleet management software, a back end to run everything, and more, Vulog provides the framework to set mobility operators up for success. Upstream Auto

Upstream Auto is an automotive cyber-security firm that is unique.  It offers protection in the cloud instead of just on the vehicle itself, preventing problems before they reach the vehicle.  For automakers, this is a distinct advantage.  Cyber protection could be available today, across everything a car company makes, instead of waiting for the next mid-cycle enhancement on just one vehicle.  This is critically important for an auto industry that is undergoing historical sea change -- from cars that drive themselves and "talk" to each other so they don't collide to cars that derive more value from the data they collect than the transportation they provide. All connectivity depends on mitigating the risk for cyber hacks.

May Mobility

A start-up that focuses on autonomous manufacturing. It is competing with city buses in geofenced inner-city routes and launched its first two low-speed autonomous shuttle services in summer of 2018.

Delphi-04.png

Delphi Technologies

Delphi Technologies was formed late last year when the old Delphi became two new companies:  Aptiv, which focuses on autonomous vehicles and mobility on demand, and Delphi Technologies, a powertrain powerhouse with a new vision of what power electronics can do for electrified vehicles.

MDGO.png

MDGO

An Israeli start-up that uses artificial intelligence and bio-mechanical modeling to turn acceleration data available from vehicle sensors to diagnosis of the victims in an accident before emergency personnel arrive. The doctor who founded this believes traffic fatalities could be cut in half, thanks to this technology.

AutoTech Council

The AutoTech Council, formed in 2013, searches the world for innovation, sifting through 500 startups a year to present the best ideas to more than 100 car companies and their suppliers.

LiDAR Teaching Seminar

The LiDAR Teaching Seminar, a forum created by Scott Fosgard Communications, brings the world's leading suppliers of LiDAR and Tier 1 suppliers together for a status update on cost, range, resolution and edge cases, such as blizzards, fog, driving rain or blinding sun.  LiDAR, or laser sensors working at the speed of light, "see" the traffic and roads in which autonomous vehicles operate.  When combined with radar and high-definition cameras, LiDAR will be necessary for autonomous vehicles to properly function and greatly reduce accidents and fatalities.  More than 1.2 million people die in traffic accidents each year and NHTSA estimates 90 percent of those accidents could be prevented using this sensor suite of technology.
